Gerd Bruckschwaiger was born in Austria and immigrated to Cape Breton in 1960. A self-taught artist, Gerd started painting at the age of 8, but many believe that he was born with a paintbrush in his hands. Once seeing Cape Breton’s scenery, he tried to capture the beauty on canvas.
